What is the Olympic Movement?

The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) is one of the national Olympic committees created based on the Olympic Charter adopted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The JOC has been engaged in the promotion of the Olympic Movement since its establishment to contribute to world peace, international friendship and goodwill, and the harmonious development of humankind in accordance with Olympic ideals. The Special Exhibition introduces Olympic Movement activities conducted nationwide by the JOC, going beyond pursuing medals and high performance to include nurturing next generation athletes and the activities of the Team Japan Symbol Athletes who are involved in the Movement as role model athletes.
