History of Official Uniforms that have Colored the Olympics
The official uniforms that have adorned the opening ceremonies and awards ceremonies of the Olympics have been highly varied. The Japanese uniforms have traditionally evoked strong images with combinations of red and white, but a variety of colors have been used, particularly for the Winter Games. For the first time, we have brought together in a single exhibition all of the official uniforms worn at the eight Summer Games and nine Winter Games since 1991, when the JOC became independent from the Japan Amateur Sports Association (currently the Japan Sport Association). The first session features the Winter Games in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Chamonix Olympic Winter Games held in Chamonix Mont-Blanc, France starting on January 25, 1924. The second session will feature the Summer Games in advance of the 33rd Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris, France for the first time in 100 years just seven months from now. Just as the Japanese Olympic Delegation evolved into Team Japan, visitors can review the history of past Games while envisioning the official uniforms that will be work at the upcoming 2024 Games in Paris.
