The Tokyo 2020 Games, held roughly half a century later, overcame numerous challenges including the first-ever one-year postponement in Olympic history due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the decision to hold events at most venues without spectators. Marking the 100th anniversary of the start of the Showa era, this special exhibition examines the legacies left by the Tokyo 1964 and Tokyo 2020 Games through a comparison of the two events, which were held while grappling with the challenges of their respective eras.
